Each week, I will look at the overall winning lineup for the main tournament on DraftKings. I will list key takeaways and any notable information that we can use going forward.

This lineup used the full $50,000 salary and was duplicated just once. Charles Johnson was less than 5% owned this week so that is a big reason why it was only duped once despite using the full $50K salary.

Aside from the Charles Johnson differentiator, this lineup construction seems pretty straight forward. Molly McCann and Themba Gorimbo were popular spend up options above $9K and Renato Moicano was popular in the mid-range due to the line movement in his favor throughout fight week.

“Chuck Buffalo” Charles Radtke (18%), came through as a nice leverage play against the more popular Gilbert Urbina (29%). Nassourdine Imavov was an obvious target in the main event and scored well enough to capture first place. What is interesting though, is Luana Carolina (9%) outscored Imavov and would have given you a unique lineup in this tournament. We talked briefly about Carolina as a sneaky leverage play on the DraftKings deep dive show but it took some stones to play her against the very popular Julija Stoliarenko.

But really the story of the slate and of this lineup is the Charles Johnson play. Johnson is an unpopular fighter in general, but particularly in this matchup against an opponent that many people expected him to dominate the grappling. Johnson was the lowest owned fighter on the entire slate so him putting up a reasonable score at his salary was enough to make it to the top, while also making sure this lineup would not be chopped 50 times.

13 fight slates generally get a little crazy but this one seemed like the variance was dialed up. But despite the many surprises, the overall roster construction to win was not that crazy in hindsight.

Hit on the popular spend up options – McCann and Gorimbo
Eat the chalk in the mid-range – Imavov and Moicano
Hit on your Leverage underdog – Charles Radtke
Big brain differentiator to help you get unique – Charles Johnson

Huge congrats to CoachS111 and gimmethat1993 for taking down first place!

Good luck next week and I’ll see you in the streets.
